Submitting a resume without a cover letter is not just unprofessional but a waste of opportunity as well.  Through your cover letter, you are given the chance to make a formal introduction of yourself as well as your intent in becoming part of the company.  In about three or four short paragraphs, you can convince a hiring officer that you deserve to get an interview and that looking at your resume will be worth the time.

Once you are called in for an interview, you are another step closer to your dream job.  Most companies conduct several interviews apart from the initial interview.  Sometimes, an entire panel of officers will conduct the interview so you should be prepared to face up to the challenge.

How to Negotiate a Job Offer

It is very important to remember that you should never try to negotiate unless you have been given an offer or you are certain that the company wants to hire you.  When asked about salary matters, never give out the numbers.  If you give out a figure lower than what the company pays, then obviously you lose your chance of getting a higher pay.  On the other hand, if you give out an amount much higher than what the company pays, the loan officer may decide that they can’t afford to hire you.

When asked about your expected salary, you can return the question by asking how much is the company’s budget for the position.  If you’re not happy with the figure, you may negotiate for a higher pay.  Don’t forget to consider the compensation package as a whole, instead of just focusing on the monthly pay.
